It is the start of a new and remarkable journey towards empowering women in Pakistan who might have the skills but lack the opportunities. Sadly, it is not always about the skills because opportunities and talent go hand in hand. Women are not suitably represented in the cricket world, the opportunities are less as compared to their male counterparts but this step of Uber and ICC will pave the way for a new beginning with first-ever ICC Women World T20.

Uber Empowering Women

Uber is playing a vital role in the development of society and the promotion of sport among females. As the event is sponsored by Uber, the credit of this great initiative goes to ICC and Uber. This step will enhance the interest of women in sports, especially in Pakistan. The Chief International Business Officer of Uber, Brooks Entwistle, has also shared pleasing remarks about the first ever ICC women world T20. Uber’s Chief International Business Officer, Brooks Entwistle stated that:

“We are absolutely delighted to be the first ridesharing and food delivery platform to partner with the ICC for the first ever standalone ICC Women’s World T20. We recognize the best way to change the status quo is to challenge it, and the ICC Women’s World T20 is a powerful showcase of women moving the sport of cricket forward while uniting and inspiring communities around the world.

This positive news set the social media on fire and messages have been pouring in the support of Pakistani women cricket team. It is expected that this tournament will be held from 9th to 24th November this year. It will be a 10-team tournament and the participating countries include Bangladesh, Australia, India, England, Ireland, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the West Indies.
