We are well into 2019 and like every time since the past few years, the newest edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL4) follows soon after New Year. When the first edition of the league was introduced, fans were skeptical and weren’t sure the Pakistan Cricket Board would be able to continue holding the exciting event but, they have proved to the locals and to international cricketing fans that PSL is not going away any time soon.

With every new edition of the league, there are some note-worthy changes, while some things remain unchanged. Regardless, the star-studded event never fails to disappoint and come 14th February, it is set to entertain fans globally. Here are all the details that you should know about PSL4.

The Performers In The Opening Ceremony

The anthem of the PSL4 was sung by Fawad Khan and though it did face some criticism, it will surely pump up the crowds on the day of the ceremony.

The team Junoon, which split up earlier but re-united for a performance in Karachi recently are also going to be performing at the event. Furthermore, Pakistani Pitbull fans will rejoice when they hear that none other than Mr. Worldwide will also be there.

Don’t miss out on Junoon’s performance if you have the chance:

Six teams will be participating this year, like they did last year, and the respective captains are listed below:

  • Karachi Kings-Imad Wasim
  • Islamabad United-Muhammad Sami
  • Peshawar Zalmi-Darren Sammy
  • Quetta Gladiators-Sarfaraz Ahmed
  • Multan Sultans-Shoaib Malik
  • Lahore Qalandars-Muhammad Hafeez

The two main changes are in relation to the captains of the Qalandars and from Islamabad United. The latter’s choice has been surprising for many considering how Sami doesn’t even make international appearances with the Pakistani team that frequently but hopefully he will be able to put up a good show.

Hafeez seems like a good choice for the Qalandars based on his expertise as a player and his history as a captain of the Pakistani team.

The Location Of The Matches

In all, the 34 matches are set to be played as part of the HBL PSL4 2019. However, like last year, some of them will be played in Pakistan.

The last eight matches of the tournament will be played in Pakistan, divided between the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Stadium in Karachi.

The final, like last year, will be played in Karachi on 17th March, almost a month from the beginning of the tournament.

Additionally, the latest news regarding PSL4 is that Jonty Rhodes, the South-African bowler is also set to appear in the newest edition as a commentator.

The teams have already left or are about to leave Pakistan for the UAE, ready to warm up before the back to back light up our screens once more.
