Our social media is swamped these days by the posts of people participating in the #10yearschallenge. It has taken Facebook and other social media platforms to engage the users in this activity and within hours, people jumped into this race. Well, a variety of posts have been seen in this context with multiple theories but the worst #10yearschallege award goes to PPP for misusing a photo for the current prosperous situation of Tharkparkar.

Well, this social media has the power to distort the facts and can easily mislead the audience but people have developed awareness about background checking of the photos shared especially when you know that it’s an era of Photoshop and one needs to check the reality behind every post shared publicly. Seriously, the main ideology behind this activity is to make the face recognition algorithm of social media platforms by learning about the pre-photos of the users but we are astonished that people have taken this challenge so far that our political parties are using this to clarify their stance with wrong facts being displayed in such kind of challenges.

Recently, the official account of PPP shared a #10yearschallege post showing a 2009 v/s 2019 Tharparkar photo where a desert is shown for 2009 and a highway with greenery is shown as a 2019 update. The posts also claim that PPP has served Sindh for the past 10 years and has transformed Sindh’s inhabitants’ lives by constructing connecting roads and highways via Tharkparkar. These roads have facilitated the people to commute easily to seek employment in Sindh. Keeping in view the current situation faced by PPP and then this post just added fuel to the fire and backfired immediately. According to the people, the photo for 2019 is completely Photoshopped and to add to the fury, it isn’t even of Pakistan.

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari came to the rescue on Twitter and defended PPP #10yearschallege post by exclaiming the fact the social media is distorting the image of PPP and that legal action should be taken against those who claim it is photoshopped. The other known side of Tharparkar is the rising trend in deaths of infants due to malnutrition. This is an undeniable fact that the people of Tharkparkar are facing worst ever famine and are deprived of basic food and health facilities. The question here is that is it justified to construct roads by neglecting the basic nutritional facilities’ availability to the people? I can’t buy a Toyota Corolla car in front of my single room apartment where my family isn’t even properly fed. It’s a pretty simple logic yet still not understood. Moreover, the political parties should be mature enough not to participate in such kind of social challenges.
