So people keep asking what’s naya in ‘Naya Pakistan’, here is something new – Pakistan Post will now deliver orders in one day! Murad Saeed, Minister of State for Communications and Postal Services, recently inaugurated a same day delivery service by Pakistan Post. This service is available in most of the major cities of Pakistan. The EMO (electronic money ordering) service will also be available at the customer’s doorstep. Murad Saeed addressed the public at a General Post Office (GPO) in Islamabad and announced that this service would be available in 83 GPOs across Pakistan.
It will improve the facilities provided to customers and will help balance the loss being faced for such a long time
Murad Saeed also appealed to the media to play a positive role when promoting official departments. The new scheme of EMO (Electronic Money Order Service) will ensure that money is delivered to customers at their house. Up to fifty thousand rupees can be sent through this service, and it is very easy to use and convenient. The charges are also very low as compared to the private sector. The EMO service can be availed at 83 GPOs with Post to Post and Post to Door services available.
At present, the Pakistan Post and its delivery service is facing a loss of Rs. 10 billion each year due to lack of proper management. PTI is now trying to fix this issue and bring the Pakistan Postal Service out of the loss. Murad Saeed said that the Postal Service department will also work on the E-commerce side and initiate the e-commerce and logistics services to ensure betterment in the revenue section. The department plans to re-brand all thirteen thousand post offices all over Pakistan.
The postal service industry is a dying one but it needs to be revived and same day delivery services can help in achieving this goal. It was once one of the most thriving industries and it was a source of income for thousands. But with the advent of technology came the demise of this service sector. With hard work, proper governance and efficiency in service, this sector can still be revived till it is thriving once again.
