Sitting on a couch watching TV while browsing social media websites on my smartphone is our small world these days. We express our views on social media without giving prior thinking and due consideration to the fact that our words reach all corners of the world. I do not intend to get into the topic of liberty of speech, but what I know is that our expression definitely tells a lot about ourselves and our thinking process. It is very easy to fight the war while being safe in your house, typing away the abuses. Let’s get a reality check!
To start with, I deeply console with the families of the soldiers killed in Pulwama attack and I believe that killing one person is equivalent to the entire humanity. Moving on, there has to be a committee established for its full investigation to identify the main culprits. But this is the main turning point which has actually changed the entire scenario. It is a known fact that our electronic and social media has played a very important role in the course of actions and the consequences as we see today.
Obviously, the tactics of war have been changed and social media is the main actor in this regard. But I am really moved by the reaction of the Bollywood actors and their hate expression towards their neighbor. Not to mention that this neighbor really appreciates their movies and are a die-hard fan of their songs. Not to mention that our singers and actors have been working with them in their movies and have been composing their top-chart trending songs. Do I need to mention that most of our TV commercials hire Bollywood actors and actresses? We all have been applauding the Bollywood actresses as the show stoppers for our top ranked designers.
I am a confused mango person who just cannot figure out the root cause of such hatred, revenge, and war. Most trending tweets are from Bollywood stars including Kangana Ranawat, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan.
By the way, Priyanka also stepped into the game with biased views. But my question right now is have we seen any tweet from a Pakistani celebrity about waging a war or a statement with the slightest notion of hatred and anger? The most trending hashtag in Pakistan is right now #SayNoToWar and this slogan is being raised from an ordinary person and the most influential bloggers and media influencers.
I do not want to get into the details of how much Pakistani population waits for the upcoming Bollywood movies. As a matter of fact, people have been waiting anxiously for Total Dhamaal for a good laughter and entertainment but the aggressive reaction from Ajay Devgan turned the tables around.
Even after such reactions from the Bollywood actors and actresses, Pakistani Cinema didn’t stop showing Bollywood movies until yesterday after the LoC breach. Such situations may provide scripts for upcoming Bollywood movies but is it really worth it? Our real-life scenarios are poles apart from the Bollywood movie scenes and actions.
Much damage has already been done during the past two days and we want to talk about peace in the region. This is not just about two countries but a global matter and we should be really serious about giving our opinions on Twitter and other social media platforms. At the end of the day, it’s a son of an ordinary citizen who will be fighting and protecting the fellow countrymen. The soldiers from both sides are not celebrities but brave men who have stepped out to fight for their countries while their parents and families back at home pray for their safety.
