“I’d start living in an airplane if given a chance,” said Maryam Mujtaba in a four-minute interview released by Pakistan International Airline (PIA). She is recognized as the first female pilot of Pakistan and PIA gave her the wings to fly!
They say that women can’t drive. Well, they are wrong because not only they CAN drive but they CAN also fly planes!
PIA gave me wings to fly. I was so lucky that the day I got my commercial pilot license (CPL), there was an advertisement going on by PIA. I applied, appeared in the admissions exam, and got my name on the list
Maryam Mujtaba is now recognized as the first female pilot of Pakistan! She wanted to be a pilot from a very young age. Upon recognizing her dream, her parents sent her to flying school where she got educated and got the professional training.
She completed the CPL course and applied for a job opening at PIA and she got the job. When she was asked in the interview about one thing that she never forgets to travel with to which she responded:
“It has to be the Holy Quran, I always take it along with me on trips”.
Maryam Mujtaba also shared a rememberable incident that occurred in an ATR bound for Bahawalpur. A female passenger panicked because a female pilot was flying the plane. However, it was a successful landing and that female passenger came up to Mujtaba to take pictures after landing. She, later on, showered her with blessings.
After the news broke on the internet, Maryam is being appreciated on social media platform to fulfill her childhood dream.
Maryam Mujtaba is not only the first female pilot of Pakistan but she is also an inspiration for a lot of young girls out there who want to pursue their dreams but lack the motivation. She is one of those women who does not care about what other people have to say and follow their dreams. We hope to see many other female pilots flying high in the air because she is an exquisite example for all Pakistanis.
