For the people working online and providing freelance services to international clients, the first thing is the transfer of the money in local bank accounts in exchange for the project the people deliver to the clients. Companies like PayPal, Payoneer, and Skrill are the most secure and trusted money transfer services accepted on the international level. Almost all the online freelancing websites have PayPal as the first option for money transfer. Websites like Fiverr, Upwork and Freelancers do have secondary options of Payoneer and Skrill as money transfer, however their fee per annum and money withdrawal charges are comparatively high. For the website bloggers, online influencers, YouTube channel owners, web developer, vloggers, online shopping marts who own and host websites in Pakistan, PayPal is definitely their first but they have to forcefully switch to other payment methods to withdraw money they make. Minister of Finance Asad Umar aims to change this and aims to meet PayPal CEO to introduce PayPal Pakistan!
To add to the misery, not all the freelancing websites or international clients provide Payoneer or Skrill as secondary options and their mode of online money transfer is just PayPal. So, most of the freelancers don’t work for these clients or switch to a very long route of PayPal account transfer from another account to Pakistan (a very lengthy and tedious procedure and not really recommended). Moreover, for the photographers to sell online photos, there are just one or two websites which give Payoneer as payment options. However, the majority of the online photography selling websites just provide PayPal as the payment method. In addition to the well-known Fiverr and Upwork, other content writing and essay websites also have PayPal account as payment options. Such payment restrictions narrow down Pakistan freelancing market to half of its potential.
Setting International Payment Account Is Tiresome!
Other issues faced by freelancers is the setup of the multiple international payment accounts and linking them to local accounts and then paying heavy per annum fee and per withdrawal charges. Moreover, there is an additional effort to link different international accounts like Payoneer and Skrill together. Well, these payment methods are a real fatigue to the freelancers working online. On the other side, PayPal is an internationally accepted payment method which is secure and hassle-free and PayPal Pakistan will improve the economy of the citizen as well as the country.
Finally A Ray Of Hope For Pakistani Freelancers!
Unfortunately, in Pakistan, not much attention is given to the freelancers and their services and that’s why they have to figure out the payment methods alone as they cannot signup for PayPal account. However, our Finance Minister Asad Umar has shown keen interest in introducing PayPal account in Pakistan and is looking forward to meeting PayPal’s CEO in order to officially launch PayPal services in Pakistan. This is a sign of relief for all the online freelancers and bloggers since it is the most convenient payment method. Asad Umar has stated that he will convince PayPal to explore the market in Pakistan and even if PayPal doesn’t agree then he will be introducing other international payment methods to facilitate freelancers, startups and entrepreneurs. This is the greatest news of 2018 to all the freelancers and bloggers working online and we really hope to see PayPal Pakistan launching its services soon.
